Will Cameron Green Miss IPL 2024 For RCB Due To Chronic Kidney Disease?

Australia's promising all-rounder Cameron Green was left out of the playing XI for the first test against Pakistan. However, ahead of the game, the all-rounder sat down for an interview with Channel 7, wherein he made a shocking revelation about his health history.

Green revealed that he has been suffering from a chronic kidney disease since birth and that the disease is irreversible. Apparently, his kidneys do not filter blood like they should and are working at 60% of their total capacity.

Not only that, Cameron Green further explained how the disease is divided into five stages of severity. While he is currently at stage two, stage five progression will require him to either seek a transplant or permanent dialysis.

Green To Skip IPL Over Kidney Disease?

Cameron Green's explosive revelation has led to speculations over his alleged absence from the upcoming IPL season. The all-rounder was traded from Mumbai Indians to Royal Challengers Bangalore last month in an all-cash trade deal.

Moreover, Green shared a video stating his excitement about joining forces with RCB. However, the recent information that has come to light has left the RCB fans nervous.

Having said that, it seems unlikely for Cameron Green to give the upcoming event a miss. In the same interview, he shared that he has managed to contain the disease, and barring a single incident that took place last year, his professional life has stayed largely unaffected.

Last year, while playing against New Zealand in an ODI game, Cameron Green experienced cramps due to abnormal functioning of the kidneys.

Green also reckoned that he had been taking measures to slow down the progression of the said disease. He follows a separate diet and training regime planned by the specialists, doctors, and trainers.

“Fortunately, I’m stage two, but if you don’t look after them enough, it easily goes back down," said Green.

Thus, as far as the IPL participation is concerned, RCB fans must not jump the gun. Cameron Green is fit to play cricket without any restrictions whatsoever.
