Will Ben Stokes Retire From ODIs After Pakistan Game In World Cup? Here's The Answer

England Test skipper Ben Stokes shocked everyone by retiring from One-Day cricket last year; however, he reversed his call for the all-important Cricket World Cup 2023 in August 2023.

Stokes is a major component in England's white-ball and red-ball setup and forms the fulcrum of their batting. With defending champions England already knocked out of the competition, Stokes could possibly make his final ODI appearance against Pakistan on Saturday at Kolkata.

The all-rounder recently struck his maiden World Cup century against the Netherlands after being out of form in most matches, having missed England's initial games due to an injury.

Speaking to Belfast Telegraph, when asked if the Pakistan ODI would be his last, Stokes chose not to dwell much and kept cards close to himself.

Here's what Stokes said

“I’ve no idea. I’m sure there will be a conversation but I don’t know when that will be. I have used the time between games here to give myself a better opportunity after the surgery,

"All the work in the gym doesn’t compare to what you go through out there. I’m looking forward to getting it sorted and not having to worry like I have these past 18 months. From a physical point of view I’m better off than when I first got out here, but physical fitness and cricket fitness are two different things."

Courtesy of his 108 against the Dutch, Stokes is now the second-highest run-getter for the Three Lions this tournament with 220, behind Dawid Malan (361).

Overall, in 113 ODIs, the 2019 World Cup and 2022 T20 World Cup winner has scored 3,379 runs and claimed 74 wickets.
