The ICC Men’s ODI World Cup 2023 tournament has been an unforgettable experience for us all. From epic run chases and high-scoring thrillers to unprecedented controversies, the ongoing World Cup has given us countless memories that will be treasured for years to come. With still one semifinal spot up for grabs, the tournament is expected to spice up as we head closer to the final phase of the World Cup.

On a different note, Pakistan embarked on a historic tour of India after a gap of seven years. Pakistan will always cherish the warm hospitality extended to them during the tournament. Ever since their arrival in India after a seven-year hiatus, Babar Azam and his team have been graciously welcomed and taken care of.

But despite conscious efforts from the Indian contingent to improve the strained ties between two ideologically opposed nations, some experts in Pakistan have been causing controversy with their ill-tough actions and statements.

After Hasan Raza’s obnoxious claims regarding India's successful World Cup campaign, Naseem Rajput, a journalist from Pakistan, alleged on a news channel that Babar Azam declined an interview with former Indian cricketer Irfan Pathan, citing his reluctance to engage with individuals who criticise Pakistan.

While speaking on the show 'Kuch Cricket Ho Jaye' on Aaj TV, Rajput referred to Pathan's celebration after Afghanistan's win over Pakistan, which triggered several Pakistani fans.

“Irfan attempted to interview Babar, but Babar declined. Initially, the production team of the channel asked for an interview with Pathan on Babar’s behalf, but the Pakistan captain refused. Later, the former Indian all-rounder approached Babar himself to have a chat. However, Babar once again declined the request, stating that he does not speak to those who speak against Pakistan.”

In contrast, several reputed media outlets have dismissed the claim as false. They have clarified that Babar did not refuse an interview with Irfan Pathan, labelling it as fake news.

Similarly, Gautam Gambhir recently criticised a Pakistani news channel for spreading false information where he was falsely quoted saying,"Virat Kohli would have opted for singles at 195 if he had been present. However, Glenn Maxwell's decision to hit a six is what sets him apart."
