South African batter David Miller shared insights ahead of the ICC World Cup semi-final clash against Australia, emphasising the Proteas' familiarity with their opponent. Miller acknowledged the historical encounters between the two teams, stating that they've faced the Aussies frequently, providing a significant advantage in anticipating the challenges posed by the five-time World Cup champions.

Australia's recent victory over Afghanistan secured their place in the semi-final, setting the stage for a high-stakes showdown against South Africa.

Reflecting on their previous group stage encounter at Lucknow, where South Africa secured a commanding 134-run victory, Miller highlighted the familiarity of the opposition team.

The upcoming semi-final, according to Miller, serves as a dress rehearsal of their earlier clash in the 2023 World Cup.

"We played them before in the World Cup (referring to Australia), so kind of a dress rehearsal there and we've played them quite a bit in the past. So, we know what to expect. They're always a competitive team. They've got some incredible players and match winners amongst their team," said David Miller during the press conference.

Speaking about Miller's form with the bat in the ongoing World Cup, Miller has been playing short cameos and contributing valuable runs for South Africa.

In eight matches, he has accumulated 231 runs at an average of 28.87. As the World Cup approaches its climax, Miller would like to bolster his run tally and play a pivotal role in the semi-final clash.

Under the leadership of Temba Bavuma, South Africa has already secured a spot in the semi-finals. Their last league fixture against Afghanistan in Ahmedabad presents an opportunity to fine-tune their strategies before the knockout stage.

Reflecting on the historical clashes between Proteas and Aussies, the rivalry dates back to the blockbuster 1999 World Cup semi-final, which ended in a tie. However, Australia advanced based on their higher Super Six table finish. The 2007 World Cup witnessed another semi-final clash, with Australia emerging victorious by seven wickets.

In the current scenario, South Africa stands as a formidable contender, aiming to shed the "chokers" tag and qualify for their maiden final. The upcoming semi-final promises to be a compelling battle, with South Africa poised as a team to watch out for, presenting a formidable challenge for Australia.
