The IPL 2025 is all set to resume on May 17 after a one week suspension. The final has now been postponed to June 3 from May 25, and many teams have brought in replacement players for the overseas stars who are not willing to come back to India.
A Restricted Mustafizur Rahman Will Play For DC In 3 Games
Delhi Capitals are also one of them and they have roped in the services of Mustafizur Rahman in place of Jake Fraser McGurk. However, since his appointment, the franchise has faced lot of heat and uncertainty. There has been social media backlash due to the selection of a player from Bangladesh while there were doubts whether he would get NOC or not.
The player also has national commitments in UAE and Pakistan, but he has now got NOC from the Bangladesh Cricket Board. Thus, Mustafizur is all set to play for DC this season, but unfortunately, he has got the NOC for the period between May 18 to 24. This makes him unavailable for DC if they qualify for the playoffs.
"As per the decision of BCB Cricket Operations, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has granted a No Objection Certificate (NOC) to national team pace bowler Mustafizur Rahman for his participation in the ongoing IPL 2025 in India, for the period from 18 - 24 May 2025," BCB said in a statement
Bangladesh are scheduled to play two T20Is against UAE on May 17 and 19. Mustafizur will leave for IPL after the first game and would most probably be available for selection against GT on May 18. The next two league games for DC are against MI and PBKS and they will be played on May 21 and 24.
However, if Delhi Capitals qualify for the playoffs, Mustafizur Rahman would not be available, as Bangladesh's five-match T20I series against Pakistan will start on May 25. Thus, DC who are already without the likes of Mitchell Starc and Jake Fraser-McGurk will not be able to use Mustafizur Rahman's services if they qualify for the playoffs.
