In a major shock to the cricketing world and especially Bangladesh cricket fans, Tamim Iqbal was dropped from Bangladesh's squad for the World Cup 2023, scheduled to take place in India from 5th October. The news came on Tuesday after the World Cup selection meeting was held involving skipper Shakib-al-Hasan, who was against having a half-fit player in the side.

However, another report has emerged from a source claiming that after Tamim played a 44-run knock against New Zealand in the recently concluded series, he was asked by the BCB (Bangladesh Cricket Board) management to sit out of the country's first game against Afghanistan on 7th October.

This did not sit well with the veteran batter, who was shocked and left fuming over his exclusion from such a crucial game. Nevertheless, he still convinced the management to let him play the match.

But, later, they came up with another option and asked him to bat in the lower-middle order in that encounter, which again surprised him. Tamim decided not to proceed this time as he argued that a different batting position would not suit him.

This discussion proved to be the end of Tamim's chances to feature in another World Cup because the management was clear in their approach regarding the opener and, hence, decided to drop him.

This news came at a time when Bangladesh faced a 2-0 series white-wash against New Zealand at their home, with the visitors playing without their senior members.

Nonetheless, it remains to be seen if this report turns out true or not, considering some other theories are present there as well.
