After incurring an 86-run defeat in the second ODI, hosts Bangladesh had a disastrous start to their innings in the decider of the ongoing series against New Zealand in Mirpur. The Tigers, after opting to bat first, lost three quick wickets before the dismissal of veteran keeper-batter Mushfiqur Rahim pushed them on the back foot. 

However, the way Rahim got out in the game stole all the limelight amidst Bangladesh's turmoil. Lockie Ferguson bowled a back of the length delivery, which Rahim defended almost perfectly. However, unfortunately, the ball went towards the stumps after hitting the inside half of his bat. 

The keeper-batter tried to prevent the ball from hitting the stumps, but failed miserably. As a result, the ball shattered his timber, compelling him to make his way back to the dugout. 

Thus, Rahim's football skills weren't enough to save him from an embarrassing dismissal, which created laughter among the cricket fraternity. 

Rahim has had a fabulous year with the bat, amassing 595 runs at an impressive average. However, he couldn't sustain his dream run today, managing only 18 runs before being dismissed in the 16th over. 

After Rahim's departure, Mahmudullah and Najmul Hossain Shanto have added 35 runs for the fifth wicket. As of writing, the hosts are 123 for four in 22.2 overs, with Shanto and Mahmudullah batting on 61* and 11*, respectively.
