KL Rahul-led Indian side clinched a rare ODI series win in South Africa by beating the hosts by 2-1. In the absence of frontline players featuring the likes of Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Jasprit Bumrah, Rahul led the Men in Blue in a clinical fashion.

The Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) captain exhibited tremendous maturity in his leadership and was successful enough in leading the young Indian brigade to glory.

Apart from his captaincy attributes, Rahul’s batting has come a long way in recent years. The 31-year-old commenced his journey as a professional cricketer with the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in 2013. Originally hailing from Bangalore, Rahul has always been thrilled about representing his home franchise in the IPL.

During his formative years as a young cricketer, Rahul revealed that it was always his childhood dream to play for RCB. Furthermore, he also highlighted the role his former franchise played in helping him transform his game to the next level and expressed his gratitude for the same.

"RCB gave me the opportunity to showcase my talent when I was young - I am also from Bangalore so I always dreamt of playing for RCB when IPL started - I was lucky that I got to play for them for a few years so RCB is very close to me".

Rahul had a sensational run in the recently concluded ODI World Cup last month where he finished as the fourth-highest run-scorer with 452 runs to his tally along with one century and two half-centuries.

With the question of retirement looming large over Rohit Sharma, KL could soon be handed the captaincy baton for team India across all three formats. As we look ahead, the Bangalore-based wicketkeeper batter is set to lead Lucknow  in the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL 2024) edition.
