On Sunday, July 27, India pulled off a great heist as they denied England a win and stayed alive in the series after the fourth Test ended in a draw. The game was all for the hosts to win and seal the first-ever Anderson-Tendulkar trophy.

Jadeja-Sundar Help India Stay Alive In Tournament

Notably, England required just eight wickets to win the fourth Test with almost two days in hand. However, KL Rahul and Shubman Gill batted for the entire Day 4, while Ravindra Jadeja and Washington Sundar stitched an unbeaten 203-run stand to frustrate England.

Eventually, the two teams decided to shake hands and end the match in a draw. The caravan now moves to Kia Oval, which will host the fifth and final match of the series.

India have the chance to level the series 2-2, and the fans are curious as to who will get to retain the trophy if the series ends in a draw.

Who Will Retain The Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy?

Notably, if India go on to win the fifth Test and level the series 2-2, the trophy will be held by England, because according to the rules, the team that won the series in the previous edition gets to retain the trophy.

Notably, the previous edition of the India-England tour in England (previously known as the Pataudi Trophy) was also a draw in 2021, but the Ben Stokes-led side won the series in 2018 when they beat India 4-1.

However, it is important to understand that the ongoing tour is also the inaugural edition of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy. Thus, there is also a possibility of the two teams sharing the Trophy. However, no clarity has been provided by the ECB or BCCI regarding this matter in case of the series ending in a draw.
