Day 5 of the fourth Test between India and England belonged to the visitors as Ravindra Jadeja and Washington Sundar emulated Shubman Gill and KL Rahul's heroics from the previous day.

Notably, trailing by 311 runs, India lost two wickets on Day 4 and were on the course of a heavy defeat. However, Shubman Gill and KL Rahul batted for the entire day and stitched a crucial stand of 188 runs for the third wicket.

England Go Against Spirit Of Game

However, England picked up two quick wickets on Day 5, and the Ben Stokes-led side were optimistic of a win. However, Ravindra Jadeja and Sundar stitched an unbeaten stand of 122 runs to frustrate the hosts.

The lower-order pair faced 226 deliveries and are doing their best to seal a draw in Manchester. Meanwhile, England, after failing to pick wickets with the old and new ball, resorted to unfair practices in the third session, which didn't go unnoticed by the umpire.

Crawley, Root Issues Warning By The Umpires

Notably, in the 122nd over of the match, Zak Crawley and Joe Root deliberately threw the ball headed towards them on a bounce to the keeper. The fielders pitched the ball on the hard deck to make the ball rough on one side and help the bowlers get some reverse swing, as only 28 overs are left in the match.

The act was noticed by the umpire, and he headed straight to Zak Crawley, who was at mid-on, and issued a first warning to the English opener. Notably, a repeated offence would draw a penalty, and India would be awarded five runs if the umpire finds England guilty of throwing the ball on a bounce deliberately.

At the time of writing, India are 346/4 and 27 overs of play is left in the match. India have a 35-run lead and the match is most likely to head towards a draw.
