What Do Delhi Capitals Need To Do To Pip RCB As IPL 2025 Table Toppers vs KKR?

On Tuesday, April 29, Delhi Capitals will lock horns against Kolkata Knight Riders at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. Both teams are winless in the previous match and it is a must-win match for the two franchises. Shedding the focus on the Capitals, they started the tournament on a high as they registered a four-match winning streak, but in the last five games, the Axar Patel-led side has won just two games. 

Delhi Capitals are currently placed fourth on the table with 12 points in nine matches. While, the upcoming clash is a pressure game for the Capitals, they also have the opportunity to pip Royal Challengers Bengaluru and go on top of the table with a win over KKR. 

At present, RCB are on top of the table with 14 points in 10 matches, which includes seven wins and three defeats. Meanwhile, if DC manage to get a win over KKR, they too would have the same result as RCB. However, the net-run rate would come into play and this article will look at the scenarios that the Capitals have to keep in mind to have a better net-run rate than RCB.

DC are placed fourth on the table with a net run-rate of +0.482, while table toppers RCB have a net run-rate of +0.521. Now, here's what Delhi need to do to have a better net run-rate than RCB.

If DC are batting first, then they need to win the match against KKR with a margin of 35 runs and more. If the Axar Patel-led side are chasing, and the average target is 160, then the Capitals need to chase the target within 16 overs to go at the top of the table.
