IND-W vs SA-W Highlights [Source: @BCCIWomen, @four6out/x.com]
The Women’s Tri-Nation ODI Series 2025 just turned up the heat with a thrilling clash. India Women made it two wins in two as they squeezed past South Africa Women by 15 runs in a tense clash at the R. Premadasa Stadium, Colombo on Tuesday.
It wasn’t a walk in the park as both teams threw punches but eventually, it was Harmanpreet Kaur's side that held their nerve.
Here’s a look at India Women vs South Africa Women highlights from Colombo.
Pratika Rawal And Smriti Mandhana Set The Stage For India Women
India Women got off to a flyer thanks to the calm and collected Pratika Rawal and the ever-classy Smriti Mandhana. Rawal, batting brilliantly, struck a fine 78 off 91 balls, crunching 7 boundaries and a six.
Mandhana, although not at her fluent best, gave good company with a fighting 36 off 54 balls, timing the ball sweetly early on. Together, the duo stitched an 83-run opening stand, setting the tone perfectly for India.
Once Smriti Mandhana fell, Rawal kept going, bringing up her fifty and anchoring the innings beautifully until a rare lapse saw her lose her wicket to Mlaba.
Harmanpreet Kaur And Jemimah Rodrigues Add Crucial Middle-Order Runs
When Rawal and Harleen Deol (29) fell in quick succession, India needed someone to step on the gas. Skipper Harmanpreet Kaur, cool as ever under pressure, played a captain’s knock with an unbeaten 41 off 48 balls.
Jemimah Rodrigues also chipped in with a busy 41 off 32 balls, batting with a lot of intent and energy. Richa Ghosh added some late fireworks with her 24 off just 14 balls, including a mighty six, as India powered their way to a strong total of 276/6.
Laura Wolvaardt And Tazmin Brits Light Up South Africa's Chase
Chasing 277 was never going to be easy, but South Africa Women came out swinging. Skipper Laura Wolvaardt and Tazmin Brits gave them the dream start, steady yet attacking.
Brits was the star of the show, hammering a brilliant 109 off 107 balls. She took the attack to the bowlers, smashing 13 fours and 3 sixes along the way.
Wolvaardt, although a little circumspect, did her bit with 43 off 75 balls. Their opening stand of 140 runs put South Africa firmly in the driver’s seat. At one point, India looked completely out of ideas.
Sneh Rana Leads India’s Stunning Fightback As Tazmin Brits Retires Hurt
But cricket’s a funny game. Just when South Africa were cruising, Tazmin Brits got injured and had to retire hurt at a crucial stage with SA at 170/2.
Losing her derailed the chase big time. Lara Goodall, Karabo Meso, and Sune Luus couldn’t make the most of the platform. The Indian bowlers, led by a sensational spell from Sneh Rana (5/43), pulled things back in dramatic fashion.
Wickets tumbled like a house of cards as South Africa went from 207/4 to 261 all out, falling short by just 15 runs despite a brave lower-order fight.
It was heartbreak for the Proteas, but full credit to India for hanging tough when it mattered the most.
