The Indian Premier League (IPL) is moving towards its business end and the 48th match of the league will take place between the Delhi Capitals and the Kolkata Knight Riders at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi. The two teams are at the opposite ends of the points table, with KKR suffering a turmoil in the ongoing season.

The Capitals on the other hand are fighting for a place in the playoffs and the team is in a strong position to reach the knockouts. However, after their close-fought defeat Vs RCB, the match vs the defending champions KKR, holds utmost importance.

Despite being in a strong position, the Axar Patel led Capitals cannot afford a loss Vs KKR and here is why.

Why DC cannot afford a loss Vs KKR

In the points table, Royal Challengers Bengaluru are at the top of the table, with Mumbai Indians in second, followed by Gujarat Titans at third. The Delhi Capitals occupy the fourth spot with 12 points (6 wins and 3 losses). However, if they lose Vs KKR, the consequences could be severe.

A loss against KKR will still keep DC at the fourth spot, however, it could potentially allow the other teams to sneak in. The Punjab Kings stand at fifth place and they have 11 points to their name. The Punjab Kings will play against Chennai Super Kings on Tuesday and if the Shreyas Iyer led side beats MS Dhoni's team, they will overtake DC and will occupy the third slot with 13 points, and it'll mean that GT will slip down to 4th and DC out of top-4.

The team will still be in the qualification race, but it could potentially hamper their confidence if they suffer yet another loss in the league.
