The craze for the Asia Cup 2023 is getting bigger with each passing day. Beginning August 30, the ODI tournament will be played in Sri Lanka and Pakistan. India will take on arch-rivals Pakistan on September 2 in Kandy.

Ahead of the team's departure to Sri Lanka, the BCCI has organised a pre-tournament camp at the National Cricket Academy in Bangalore, for which Virat Kohli was recently seen flying out of Mumbai. A video shows Kohli obliging to picture requests from fans at the Chhatrapati Shivaji airport in Mumbai. Dressed casually, in baggy t-shirt and trousers, Kohli, much like always, exuded style and confidence.

Kohli was last seen in action in the Test series against West Indies last month, in which he scored a half century in the first game and a century in the second. He will next be seen in action in the Asia Cup, a tournament in which he has done well in the past.

Kohli is the 12th highest run-scorer in Asia Cup history. He has scored three centuries in the tournament, which includes the 183 against Pakistan, one of his best innings of all time. India, who won the first-ever edition of the tournament in 1984, have overall won it seven times - six in the ODI format and one T20I title.

After much delay, the BCCI recently announced India’s squad for the tournament. KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer, who had been out of action for a long while due to injury, have recovered and are a part of the squad for the Asian competition. Tilak Verma, who impressed in IPL 2023 and subsequently against the West Indies, also made the cut. Suryakumar Yadav, who is yet to ace the ODI format, has also been included in the squad.
