The Indian Cricket Team is currently in Ireland for a three-match T20I series. After winning the first two matches, India will now look to register a whitewash when the third match gets underway in less than an hour's time.

Ahead of the match, team India celebrated the success of Chandrayaan 3. The team can be seen watching the landing of Chandrayaan 3 on the moon on a TV at the ground in Ireland. Along with the team, which is led by Jasprit Bumrah, the support staff can also be seen clapping.

Several cricketers also took to social media to celebrate India’s historic and mammoth achievement. Virat Kohli, Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag were among those who congratulated the Chandrayaan 3 on X, formerly Twitter.

India has become the first country to touch the south pole of the moon. Chandrayaan 3 is ISRO's third mission to the moon after Chandrayaan 1 and Chandrayaan 2. Chandrayaan 1, India's first lunar exploration mission launched on October 22, 2008, discovered water on the moon. But Chandrayaan 2, launched on July 22, 2019, was an unsuccessful mission. The Vikram lander separated from the orbiter before crashing on the moon's surface.

According to ISRO, there are three main objectives of Chandrayaan 3 - to demonstrate safe and soft landing on the lunar surface, to demonstrate rover roving on the moon and to conduct in-situ scientific experiments.

Team India, meanwhile, is gearing up for the third T20I against Ireland at The Village in Dublin. India won the first match by two runs via the Duckworth Lewis method, while winning the second game by a big margin of 33 runs. After this series, India's next big assignment is the Asia Cup starting on August 30, followed by the World Cup in October.
