After reports emerged that Zimbabwean cricketing Heath Streak had passed away due to cancer, his yesteryear teammate Henry Olonga clarified that the former all-rounder is alive and well.

Taking to X (formerly known as Twitter), Olonga shared a screenshot of his chat with Streak, and jokingly added a caption that the umpire has called the cricketer back.

Later, former Indian batsman Virender Sehwag decided to give his own take on the matter, as he took to X and quote-tweeted Olonga’s post.

Sehwag thanks Olonga with hilarious tweet for positive news

Virender Sehwag, who went up against Heath Streak’s Zimbabwe a number of times during the early stages of his international career, shared his views over the cricketer’s health in a hilarious manner.

Known for his humorous takes on cricketing matters, Sehwag thanked Henry Olonga for sharing the news on X and wrote:

“Thank you for confirming Henry. Glad Yamraj ji overruled.”

Earlier in the day, Streak himself expressed his disappointment over the fake news regarding his health. While speaking with Mid Day, the cricketer-turned-coach stated:

“I am very upset to learn that something as big as someone apparently passing can be spread unverified especially in our day and age of social media.”

The former all-rounder represented Zimbabwe in 65 Tests and 189 ODIs during his playing days. To date, he remains the highest wicket-taker of his country in both formats. He also scored nearly 5,000 international runs across all matches combined.
