Former India cricketer Venkatesh Prasad has often criticised KL Rahul on social media. Prasad's repeated criticism of the India batsman did not go down well with many. In fact, another former Indian cricketer, Aakash Chopra, once gave it back to Prasad for bashing KL Rahul constantly.

Rahul was criticised by Prasad during the Border Gavaskar trophy, when he failed to contribute runs to the team. After the series, Rahul was removed from Team India's vice-captaincy as well.

Recently, a day after Rahul was picked by the selectors for the upcoming Asia Cup, Prasad shared a picture with actor Suniel Shetty, who is the father-in-law of the Indian cricketer. Prasad revealed that he and Shetty together paid a visit to the Swami Narayan temple in New Jersey.

Prasad posted a picture of him with Shetty on X (previously Twitter), while mentioning that he secretly prayed for KL Rahul to silence his critics (including him) in the Asia Cup.

Visited the Swami Narayan temple in New Jersey with Anna. Prayed for the well-being of all Bharatvasis & for the Indian Team to do well in the World Cup. Also secretly prayed for KL to smash it to all corners, have a great world cup, and silence his critics like me. Sab khush rahein,” Prasad wrote.

Prasad had to earlier clarified in an interview with News18, that he wasn't just targeting KL Rahul, but is vocal about other cricketers as well.

"I've got nothing against anybody but it's just that whatever I feel I say it. Few people take it; few don't. It's up to them. It's not that I've only spoken about KL Rahul. I even expressed my opinion over Sarfaraz Ahmed as well who has been performing brilliantly. I have sure that I didn't cross the line, as simple as that. Few people have taken it very seriously and few have criticised," Prasad told CNN News 18.

Rahul, who suffered an injury during IPL 2023, has not played any cricket since and will next be seen in action in the Asia Cup beginning on August 30.
