Indian captain Rohit Sharma has tallied his World Cup 2023 runs at an astonishing strike-rate of 122.77 so far. The dashing opening batsman has been consistently laying up team’s thunderous foundation at the top to set up a tone for the middle-order to anchor the rest of the Indian innings.

Having taken nearly every attack to the cleaners in the tournament, Sharma took up a new challenge ahead of India’s upcoming league fixture against Netherlands. Currently based in Bangalore’s M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, the in-form opener recently went up against his own bowling teammates during a nets training session.

After caning nearly every bowling attack of the 2023 World Cup, Rohit Sharma faced his own in-form bowling arsenal comprising of Mohammed Siraj, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami and Shardul Thakur during a recent outing in the nets.

Showing no compassion for his teammates, the 36-year-old unfurled solid technical defense and outrageous stroke-play, including his trademark pull shot at one stage of his session. The International Cricket Council (ICC) recently shared a glimpse of Sharma’s faceoff with his teammates, which instantly went viral across social media.

Rohit Sharma has so far tallied 442 runs from eight World Cup 2023 innings at an average of over 55. Having blasted a match-winning 131 against Afghanistan, the senior Indian batsman also produced counterattacking 80s against Pakistan and England to lead his side to emphatic victorious.

Sharma also pounded New Zealand, Bangladesh and South Africa with identical 40s, all inside the powerplay overs itself. With 22 sixes to his name, he is currently tied alongside Glenn Maxwell in the race for the leading six-hitters of the tournament.

The Indian captain will be seen leading his troops once again through their final World Cup 2023 league fixture, set to be played against Netherlands on November 12. The much-awaited contest will be hosted by the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore.
