Chennai Super Kings’ newly acquired all-rounder, Sameer Rizvi's debut was nothing short of dreamy, as he set the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai alight with two breathtaking sixes against Gujarat Titans, the first of which he hit on his very first ball in Match 7 of the IPL 2024 on Tuesday.

This remarkable feat, however, was not just a personal victory for Rizvi but a moment of uninhibited joy for his family back home.

Sameer Rizvi's family overflows with pride after his two IPL sixes to Rashid Khan

As Sameer Rizvi swung his bat to mark his arrival on the grand stage of IPL on Tuesday, March 26, his family's ecstatic reactions captured the essence of dreams coming true, not just for an individual, but for an entire household that had backed him to the hilt.

The 20-year-old batter from Uttar Pradesh, who walked out to the crease during the penultimate over after Shivam Dube's dismissal, immediately made his presence felt.

Facing the renowned GT spinner Rashid Khan, Rizvi launched the very first ball he faced over the boundary. Without missing a beat, he replicated the feat, hitting another six in the same over.

Although his whirlwind innings were cut short by Mohit Sharma, with Rizvi returning to the pavilion with 14 runs off 6 balls, his explosive hits were pivotal in propelling CSK past the 200-run mark, contributing significantly to their commanding 63-run victory.

A viral video showed his family erupting in joy, with one member recounting how Rizvi had boldly claimed he would hit a six off his first ball - a promise he delivered with aplomb.

“Pehli ball pe chakka keh ke gaya tha' (He said he will hit a six on the first ball),” said one of the family members.

Meanwhile, Rizvi's entry into IPL 2024, for a staggering INR 8.4 crore, made him the most expensive uncapped Indian player in the latest auction.

Teams like Royal Challengers Bangalore, Lucknow Super Giants, Chennai Super Kings, Kolkata Knight Riders, Delhi Capitals, and Gujarat Titans all saw the potential in this young dynamo.

However, it was CSK that ultimately won the bid, a decision that paid dividends in their very first match of the season.
