In a delightful news for Delhi Capitals (DC) ownership group, the team management and their passionate fans, the franchise's skipper and premier wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant is reportedly set to receive a fitness clearance to make a comeback in time for the IPL 2024, starting March 22.

According to the Times of India, the dashing DC batter could be handed a fitness NOC by the National Cricket Academy (NCA) medical staff on March 5 to resume his cricketing duties via the forthcoming edition of the annual T20 carnival.

The long, painstaking wait seems finally over for Pant, who has been working tirelessly on retaining optimum fitness standards since suffering multiple injuries and undergoing surgeries for the bruises he received following a near-fatal car accident in December 2022.

Pant was travelling via car alone to surprise his mother at midnight at his family's residence in Delhi when his vehicle collapsed after a collision with the divider at the Delhi-Roorkee Highway. The cricketer suffered an extensive number of injuries and required timely and sustained medical support to regain consciousness and get back on his feet.

Not one to ever give up, however, the temperamentally strong individual has been putting in extra yards in the gym since he was approved to remove the braces he was initially using to move short distances by steps.

Pant's knee, which was the worst ravaged part of the body following the accident, has required careful monitoring and rehabilitation in the supervision of NCA medical staff and physios.

However, the match-winning cricketer now seems ripe for a comeback and could be approved to rejoin the Capitals squad on March 5 ahead of the IPL 2024, where the franchise kickstarts its campaign on March 23 against the Punjab Kings (PBKS).
