Hailed for his exceptional finishing skills and leadership, Mahendra Singh Dhoni is inarguably the biggest name featuring in the Indian Premier League. With five IPL titles and 5141 runs to his name, Dhoni is celebrated like a cult hero across fandoms during the tournament. 

However, considering he is 42, fans and experts expect the talismanic cricketer to retire from all forms of the game at the end of the ongoing IPL season. 

Although he has looked sublime with the bat, Dhoni has been battling with a serious knee injury, which might make the IPL 2024 his final competitive tournament. 

Meanwhile, in an interesting turn of events, Dhoni's close ally and ex-CSK star Suresh Raina has claimed that the veteran keeper-batter will continue to play the IPL even after the 2024 season. 

While commentating on Jio Cinema, Raina confirmed that this wouldn't be Dhoni's final year as a player, as he would likely feature in the IPL 2025. 

Given the bond Raina shares with Dhoni, his statement on the IPL broadcasting platform must've brought smiles to the face of his passionate fans. 

Coming down the order, Dhoni has ensured fitting finishes for CSK, amassing 59 runs at a blistering strike rate of 236. In the previous match, the Captain Cool hammered Hardik Pandya for hattrick of sixes, collecting twenty runs off four deliveries. 

He will be in action during the Super Kings' seventh group-stage match against Lucknow Super Giants on April 19.
