In a befitting end, Mumbai's fast-bowling stalwart, Dhawal Kulkarni, bid adieu to his illustrious cricketing career in a fairytale fashion after the Ranji Trophy 2024 final.

At the age of 35, Kulkarni had the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai echoing with applause as he dismantled Umesh Yadav's off-stump, sealing a 169-run victory for Mumbai over Vidarbha in the final.

This win not only fetched Mumbai its 42nd Ranji Trophy title but also marked Kulkarni's fifth title in his sixth final appearance.

The match, which sprawled over five gripping days, saw Mumbai skipper, Ajinkya Rahane, make a touching decision by entrusting Kulkarni with the ball to pick the final wicket.

Dhawal Kulkarni, overwhelmed by the moment, delivered as his skipper asked and couldn't hold back his tears after clinching the decisive wicket.

The Mumbai domestic veteran's farewell was nothing short of cinematic, as the Mumbai Cricket Association honoured him during the post-match presentation, celebrating a glorious career that has now been etched in India’s domestic cricketing history.

With a legacy of 281 wickets from 95 matches since his First-Class debut in 2008, Kulkarni's journey has been inspirational. His career, which includes 15 five-wicket hauls and a 10-wicket haul, stands proof of his exceptional skills and incredible spirit.

As the curtains fall on Kulkarni's storied career, the Ranji Trophy final of 2024 will be remembered not just for Mumbai's win but as a fitting ode to a cricketer who has been the backbone of their pace attack for more than a decade.
