The ongoing Indian Premier League mini auction in Dubai has seen two players turning multi-millionaires. The special part about these deals are that both players are Australians and those who played a pivotal part in taking the team over the line in the recently concluded ICC Cricket World Cup 2023.
Mitchell Starc broke all the records and became the most expensive player in the Indian Premier League ever. Kolkata Knight Riders broke the bank to secure the services of the Australian southpaw.
The Kolkata based franchise spent INR 24.75 crores to secure the signing of the former Royal Challengers Bangalore player. They went all guns blazing against Gujarat Titans to sign Mitchell Starc. After signing the player, Kolkata Knight Riders paid a tribute to their owner, Shah Rukh Khan, with a photo of Mitchell Starc.

In the post on X and Instagram, the fans can see Kolkata Knight Riders making a graphic adjustment to the Iron Man suit played by Robert Downey Jr. with a title “We Won Mr Starc '' indicating the intense battle played by the franchise to secure the signature of the Australian.
Whereas on Instagram reel, we can see the franchise mimicking the scene from Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham, a Bollywood movie, where Mitchell Starc is welcomed by a fan with aarti like in the movie.
The blockbuster dealer for the player means the huge expectations on him to deliver big on the highest stage of the league cricket. Previously, in one of the auctions, Kolkata Knight Riders had bought the player for a record sum for a seamer but he could not don the jersey due to plaguing injuries. Later, he never featured in the league due to national commitments.
