In a bid to strengthen their fast bowling unit, Royal Challengers Bangalore bagged the services of left-arm seamer Yash Dayal for INR 5 crores at the IPL 2024 auction. They went into the auction with a purse of 23.25 crores.

They invested INR 11.50 crores to rope in West Indies seamer, Alzarri Joseph. The West Indies fast bowler will form the fast bowling unit along with the likes of M Siraj, Reece Topley, etc. They released both the Indian fast bowlers, namely Siddharth Kaul and Harshal Patel.

In a bid to fill those vacancies, Yash Dayal has now been added into the set-up at a price of 5 crores. The left-arm seamer made his IPL debut for Gujarat Titans in the 2022 edition of the tournament.

He played 9 matches for the franchise that season and accumulated 11 wickets at an average of 26.91. He was hailed for bowling well in the death overs.

However, in the following season, Dayal was left heart-broken after he conceded 5 sixes in the final five balls off Rinku Singh to hand Kolkata Knight Riders a historic win. Yash Dayal lost around 6-7 killos after that eventful night and it took a while for him to make a comeback on the field.

Ahead of the IPL 2024 auction, Gujarat Titans opted to release him and the pacer will don the jersey of Royal Challengers Bangalore in the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League.

Interestingly, both Alzarri Joseph and Yash Dayal was part of Gujarat Titans in the previous season and the duo will now be seen turning up for RCB. Earlier, Royal Challengers Bangalore had traded Cameron Green from RCB, who will look to add value from both bat and ball. The addition of Green should add depth to their batting unit and he can also be a vital option with the ball.

As far as the batting is concerned, the franchise wasn’t seem to tinker a lot. The likes of Finn Allen and Kedar Jhadav, though, were released. It will be interesting if they would pick a couple of batters to strengthen their middle-order in the ongoing auction.
