Punjab Kings came into IPL 2024 auction with a settled look to their side for the first time in many years, and had just 8 slot to fill, which included only two overseas spots. The auction has ended and the way they went about their business, has once again re-emphasised the fact that Punjab Kings know that they have a quality arsenal, and this auction was just about filling in those backup spots who can step in when their preferred frontline players are not playing.

On the auction day, the Punjab management have shown lot of confidence on lesser known Indian talent. They ended up buying Shashank Singh mistakenly but have gone with players like Ashutosh Sharma, Tanay Thyagarajann, Prince Choudhary who are yet to make their debut in the IPL all bought at their base price.
Their biggest buy was Harshal Patel, the Indian pacer who played for RCB in the last three seasons. The overseas buys were Rilee Rossouw and Chris Woakes and overall, Punjab Kings did decently in the IPL auction 2024. They could have gone for an experienced Indian middle order batter but they preferred to go with young batters, and it would be interesting to see how things pan out for them.
