Jasprit Bumrah is set to make his return to competitive cricket when Team India takes on Ireland in the first of their three-match T20I series in Dublin. The speedster, having sustained a back injury last October, missed out next 11 months’ worth of action as he spent his time attaining full recovery at the National Cricket Academy (NCA).

The speedster’s comeback also coincides with a brief stint of captaincy, as he will be seen leading a bunch of rising Indian stars against the hosts.

Ahead of Bumrah’s much-awaited return to competitive cricket, here at OneCricket we look at his last wicket before he succumbed to injury.

Bumrah’s searing yorker castles Aaron Finch

Jasprit Bumrah’s last international appearance for Team India came against Australia back in September 2022 in the third T20I of their three-match series. However, the cricketer went wicketless in the game and earned his last scalp before his unprecedented injury-break in team’s preceding outing.

The match, reduced to an eight overs affair owing to ceaseless rains in Nagpur that day, saw Australia batting first against Rohit Sharma and co. Then Australian captain and opener Aaron Finch got off to a blazing start as he raced to 31 in double-quick time.

However, Bumrah unleashed a searing yorker to dismantle Finch’s leg-stump to curtail the opener’s stay at the crease.

The 29-year-old will now take charge of the Indian team when they take field against the Irishmen at the Malahide Cricket Club Ground in Dublin.

Bumrah’s form and bowling rhythm will be closely analyzed by the team management, as it will serve as a decisive factor in his inclusion into the Indian squads for the upcoming Asia Cup and World Cup.
