Ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, franchises have already started chopping and changing personnel, with Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) leading the way. LSG parted ways with former Zimbabwe captain Andy Flower and roped in Justin Langer as head coach and named ex-Indian wicketkeeper batter MSK Prasad as a strategic consultant on Thursday.

Now, Dainik Jagran has reported that team mentor Gautam Gambhir is ready to part ways with the franchise, with whom his association started in IPL 2022.

Reports further suggest that the former India opener could move back to Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), where he lifted the IPL trophy twice (2012 and 2014) as captain. A source close to the LSG franchise confirmed the same to the Daily.

With Gambhir as a mentor, LSG reached the playoffs in both the 2022 and 2023 editions, finishing the tournament in third position.

Here's what the source said about Gambhir

“After Andy Flower, Gautam Gambhir will now leave the IPL franchise… I can’t say anything further beyond this.”

Meanwhile, Gambhir will be seen in action on the field turning up for New Jersey Legends in the first-ever season of US Masters T10, which starts today.

Several high-profile former internationals such as Yusuf Pathan, Suresh Raina, Shahid Afridi, Robin Uthappa, Harbhajan Singh, Makhaya Ntini, and S Sreesanth will also participate in the six-club competition.
