Delhi Capitals (DC) new powerhitter recruit Jake Fraser-McGurk was in his blistering avatar during a net session organised by the franchise ahead of their IPL 2024 opener against the Punjab Kings (PBKS) on Saturday (March 23).

Hammering the ball across all parts of the new Mullanpur Stadium, home of the Punjab franchise, Fraser-McGurk ended up giving the fresh venue his own touch by leaving a dent on one of the stands via his brute hitting in a net session facing the Capitals throwdown specialist and net bowlers.

Giving the ball a full monte towards the on-side, the young right-hander from Australia blazed one right into the wall of a stand near the mid-wicket region with the blow visible on camera even from a distance as revealed in an amusing clip shared by the Capitals on Twitter.

Fraser-McGurk Leaves A Dent On Mullanpur Stadium

Identified by coach Ricky Ponting, who has always been mesmerized by the childhood prodigy's talent and potential, Fraser-McGurk walked into the Capitals set-up as an unlikely replacement for the injured South African speedster Lungi Ngidi.

Earmarked as one with a bright future ahead of him following his tremendous blitz in the domestic game, including Big Bash League (BBL), the 21-year-old lived up to his reputation during the first net session ahead of his maiden IPL stint.

Fraser-McGurk hammered the ball to all parts of the Mullanpur Stadium against DC net bowlers and even left his visible mark on the new venue when one of his sixes created a dent on the ground's wall. He later joked about it, saying he hopes the mark stays whenever he returns to the ground.

It would be interesting to see if the Capitals in their second game as Shai Hope and Tristan Stubbs played over the young turk in their opening clash.
