Rajasthan Royals (RR) take on the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the two teams' opening game of the 17th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) on Sunday (March 24). The inaugural season champions host the league's rising young force at their den - the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur.

The Sanju Samson-led side will be locking horns with KL Rahul & company in what promises to be a riveting afternoon game where the two teams strive to attain a strong early footing in the IPL 2024 and fetch not just two crucial points but also momentum heading deeper into their respective campaigns.

Despite not being recognised among the league's prominent and most popular franchises, both RR and LSG boast multiple T20 stars in either department. While the Royals have Jos Buttler, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Samson, Shimron Hetmyer, Ravichandran Ashwin, and Trent Boult in their arsenal, their Lucknow rivals possess Rahul, Quinton de Kock, Nicholas Pooran, Ravi Bishnoi and Marcus Stoinis in their ranks.

RR vs LSG Head To Head

Since LSG's entrance into the IPL's fold via the league's 2022 edition, the Lucknow franchise has faced off against their Rajasthan counterparts three times. Notably, the Royals have won two of the three matches and lost once.

RR vs LSG Sawai Mansingh Stadium Pitch Report

The pitch at Royals' fortress, Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur, should be fresh and filled with runs. The ground is renowned for its flat batting surfaces that aid consistent stroke-making and plethora of fours and sixes despite relatively bigger boundary dimensions.

The dimensions, however, could still be an influential ally to the pacers and spinners if they are smart in their usage of the Jaipur pitch's spongy bounce and hint of turn that should be intrinsic for all afternoon games during the tournament played in Indian conditions.
