In a significant development, Delhi Capitals have roped in Australia's swashbuckling batter Jake Fraser-McGurk as a replacement for South African pacer Lungi Ngidi, who will miss the tournament due to an injury.

Fraser-McGurk has earned his maiden IPL contract for his reserve price of INR 50 Lakhs following his stellar performance in the recently held BBL and ILT20.

Playing as a top-order batter for Melbourne Renegades, Fraser-McGurk struck 257 runs at an average of 32.12 and a blistering strike rate of 158.64.

He had an even better ILT20 season in the UAE, amassing 109 runs for Dubai Capitals at an average of 36.33 and an astonishing strike rate of 213.72.

However, considering the Capitals are blessed with a formidable top order comprising David Warner, Prithvi Shaw, and Mitchell Marsh, the young prodigy might warm the bench initially in the IPL 2024.

But, if any of these three players fail to perform consistently, the Capitals can replace him with Fraser-McGurk.

Talking about Delhi's middle order, skipper Rishabh Pant will likely bat at his preferred number four position after returning from a long injury layoff. In Harry Brook's absence, Tristan Stubbs will likely start as the finisher alongside spin-bowling all-rounders Axar Patel and Lalit Yadav.

Prominent Indian bowler Kuldeep Yadav will lead the Capitals' spin department, and Proteas speedster Anrich Nortje will lead their pace attack alongside Mukesh Kumar and Khaleel Ahmed.

Abhishek Porel, who kept wickets in Pant's absence last year, will likely feature among the impact substitutes, along with Fraser-McGurk, Kumar Kushagra, Yash Dhull and Ishant Sharma.
