Edgbaston witnessed a scintillating spectacle on Sunday as New Zealand opener, Finn Allen produced a masterclass in batting during the third T20 international against England.

Finn Allen's stunning triple sixes lit up Edgbaston

Courtesy of his sensational knock, the Kiwis managed to secure a 74-run win and have injected life back into the four-match series, now trailing by 2-1.

Having previously faced disappointing performances in the first two matches, Allen's return to form was nothing short of spectacular. However, Sunday was destined to be his day. The New Zealand dynamo played a stellar knock of 83 runs off just 53 balls, filled with four boundaries and six maximums.

But it wasn't just the sheer numbers that caught everyone's attention; it was the audacity and style with which Allen approached England's seasoned spinner, Adil Rashid.

Until the 15th over, Rashid had maintained commendable figures, having conceded just 23 runs. But that was soon to change. Allen, with impeccable precision and power, dispatched Rashid's first flighted delivery over extra cover, following it with a powerful slog over deep mid-wicket. And to further establish his dominance, the third ball was sent rocketing straight down the ground, leaving the spectators and opponents alike in awe.

While Allen's heroics stood out, Glenn Phillips played no small part with a swift 69 off 34 balls, making the Kiwi total look even more menacing. The combined assault set England a colossal target of 203, one that proved a mountain too high for the home team.

In response, England's batting was tested and found wanting against a strong Kiwi bowling attack. Despite a spirited 40 off 21 balls from Jos Buttler and a feisty 26 off 16 balls from Moeen Ali, the English lineup crumbled to the precision of the New Zealand attack.

With Kyle Jamieson and Ish Sodhi leading the charge, each bagging three wickets, England was bundled out for 128 in just 18.3 overs. Finn Allen was deservingly named the Player of the Match in light of his phenomenal performance.
