In a recent television appearance on A Sports, former Pakistan captain Misbah-ul-Haq lauded legendary Indian skipper MS Dhoni, highlighting his excellent ability to utilise part-time bowlers effectively in matches.

Misbah, who has been closely observing the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2024, noted that Rizwan shares this commendable trait with Dhoni.

Multan Sultans are currently leading the points table in PSL 2024 with three wins and a single loss from their first four games. Despite a recent setback against Peshawar Zalmi, which ended their winning streak, Rizwan's tactical brilliance, reminiscent of Dhoni's, has been evident throughout the tournament.

"MS Dhoni was a master in using half bowlers to perfection," Misbah stated during the discussion, recalling the Indian wicketkeeper-batter's knack for turning seemingly innocuous bowling options into match-winning moves.

The conversation took a cheeky turn when the show's anchor hilariously referenced Misbah's famous dismissal by Joginder Sharma in the final over of the T20 World Cup 2007.

“Who would know about it better than you,” quipped the anchor.

Unperturbed, Misbah continued to elaborate on Dhoni's influential captaincy style, drawing parallels with Mohammad Rizwan's leadership.

Specifically, Misbah praised Rizwan's utilization of Khushdil Shah in the previous season of PSL, suggesting that Rizwan possesses a similar capacity to make the most of his bowling resources.

“Mohammad Rizwan is like that. The way Rizwan used Khushdil Shah in the previous PSL, I can sense the same quality in him," stated the Pakistan veteran.

Meanwhile, Rizwan's performance in the current PSL 2024 season has been noteworthy, with 136 runs scored over four innings at an average of 34.

His contributions have been crucial to Multan Sultans' success so far, including a match-winning 82 off 59 balls against Lahore Qalandars.
