In a significant setback for the Multan Sultans, English fast bowler Olly Stone has been sidelined from the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2024 following a groin injury. The injury occurred during a clash against Islamabad United on February 20, forcing Stone to exit the game prematurely after bowling just 3.4 overs and conceding 28 runs.

This incident has led the Sultans, who are currently leading the points table with six points from three consecutive victories, to search for a suitable replacement to maintain their winning momentum.

Stone, who was initially brought in as a replacement for Reece Topley, another English pacer who withdrew from the tournament, will no longer be part of the PSL 9 roster due to this unfortunate injury.

The Sultans are now faced with the challenge of filling the void left by not one, but two crucial players, as they prepare for their upcoming matches, including a highly anticipated game against Peshawar Zalmi.

The team management has confirmed their intention to request a replacement player and will soon complete the necessary formalities to introduce a new face into their squad. Among the potential candidates to join the Sultans are New Zealand's Trent Boult and Jimmy Neesham, both of whom surprisingly went unpicked in this season's draft. Their inclusion could provide a significant boost to the team's bowling attack and overall dynamics.

Under the captaincy of Mohammad Rizwan, the Multan Sultans have shown exceptional form, convincingly winning their matches, including a notable victory over Lahore Qalandars.
