Washington Sundar, one of the best all-rounders in the domestic circuit is reportedly back in the India squad for the second Test Vs New Zealand. Sundar has been in stellar form in the Ranji Trophy and has been rewarded for his performance.

As per Express Sports, Sundar will be included in the Indian team, but he won't be a replacement player. There are reports that India will dish out spinning surface for the second Test, and there is a temptation to play an added spinner in place of a fast-bowler.

Sundar's career hampered by injuries

Washington Sundar made his international debut back in 2017, but since then he has only played in 78 matches across formats, as his career has been marred with injuries. The talented all-rounder has only played 4 Test matches, scoring 299 runs, but most importantly played a major role in India's triumph at the 2020-21 Border-Gavaskar series.

However, since then, he has been sidelined due to recurring shoulder injuries, and the presence of R Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja in the India Test squad.

Sundar stamps his authority with scintillating domestic ton

Washington Sundar stamped his authority with a majestic century against Delhi in the Ranji Trophy clash.

Coming into bat at number 3, Sundar blasted a brilliant 152 and gave an audition for the Border-Gavaskar series as well. Sundar is more than a capable batter and the Indian team could be tempted to use him in that role, heading into the tour, Down Under.

Plus, with Shubman Gill still injured, he can slot in at number 3, if the Gautam Gambhir led management wants it to happen.
