Washington Sundar has been part of scheme of things of Indian cricket for quite a few years now. He has played across formats for India, but has not been a regular in the Indian side. However, his quality as an all-rounder is appreciated in Indian cricketimg circles and he has a good record in Test cricket, especially with the bat.

He was part of India's famous Gabba win in BGT 2020-21, and now with another Border Gavaskar Trophy in Australia around the corner, Washington Sundar with a century at number 3 against Delhi in Ranji Trophy has staked his claim for a spot.

Washington Sundar Makes Full Use Of Flat Batting Deck In Delhi

On a flat deck at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, the home team Delhi are up against Tamil Nadu. The visitors are batting first and till now, they have made full use of batting conditions with Sai Sudharsan scoring 213 and Washington Sundar also smashing a century in a knock full of lovely strokes around the ground.

Sundar walked out to bat in the 40th over after Narayan Jagadeesan fell for 65. Washington Sundar who recently played T20Is against Bangladesh walked out to bat with positive intent and started finding gaps right from the onset.

He hit 13 fours and a six on his way to a century and got to the landmark with a boundary as well. It was a bit of a lucky boundary to get to his hundred as Saini found an outside edge of his blade but Sundar played it with soft hands and the ball found the gap to run towards the fence.

Washington Sundar is a handy bowler too, and if he can deliver with the ball on a flat deck, he can be a serious contender for a spot in the Test squad for BGT 2024-25 as India would need players who can contribute with their all-round skills and provide more options to the captain.
