In a recent press conference, former India captain and ex-president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India, Sourav Ganguly, expressed his strong support for Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma to participate in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. Ganguly endorsed Rohit Sharma as the captain for the tournament and emphasized Kohli's crucial role in the team.

Here's What He Said:

"Of course, Rohit should captain the team in the T20I World Cup. Virat Kohli also should be there. Virat Kohli is an outstanding player, nothing will happen (to return after 14 months),"  Ganguly stated, highlighting his confidence in Kohli's abilities despite not playing T20Is for over a year.

India's T20 World Cup 2024 schedule was recently announced, with the tournament set to take place in the USA and West Indies starting June 1. India finds itself in Group A alongside Ireland, USA, Canada, and Pakistan. As anticipation builds for the event, uncertainty remains regarding the T20I future of Kohli and Rohit.

Sunil Gavaskar and former India pacer Irfan Pathan also joined Ganguly in supporting the inclusion of Rohit and Kohli in the T20 World Cup squad. India's campaign begins on June 5 against Ireland, followed by a highly anticipated clash against Pakistan on June 9 in New York.

The absence of Rohit Sharma in 2023 saw Hardik Pandya and Suryakumar Yadav taking on captaincy duties, but Ganguly's endorsement adds weight to the return of the experienced duo for the upcoming tournament.
