In a big news coming up from Indian cricket, the star duo of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are back in T20Is. They have been named in a strong 16-member squad squad for Afghanistan series and it is a clear indication that both will board that flight to Caribbean and USA for T20 World Cup 2024.

Suryakumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya and Ruturaj Gaikwad were ruled out of the series due to their respective injuries and that has opened the gates for Sanju Samson again, as he makes return alongside the senior duo.

Ravindra Jadeja, though, continues to be ignored for the T20Is, as Axar Patel and Washington Sundar have been preferred for the spin all-rounder’s spot. Along with Rohit Sharma, Gill and Yashasvi Jaiswal are the two openers, while Jitesh Sharma has retained his place as a wicketkeeper in the squad ahead of Ishan Kishan.

Shivam Dube also makes his comeback after missing out from the squad in the South Africa T20Is, while Tilak Varma, despite mediocre performances in T20Is after the Caribbean series has been given another opportunity. Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul though have been left out with plenty of top-order options already at India's disposal.

On the bowling front, Ravi Bishnoi continues to get nod ahead of Yuzvendra Chahal, while seasoned pacers like Mohammed Siraj, Jasprit Bumrah, and Mohammed Shami have also not been selected. The selectors, led by Ajit Agarkar, have decided to go with a young pace trio of Arshdeep Singh, Avesh Khan, and Mukesh Kumar.
