Both teams have played seven matches so far and the Hurricanes are placed a step above the Strikers as they have six points compared to five respectively. STR vs HUR, Match 31- Toss Factor

The surface at the Adelaide Oval is a balanced one and it does suit the pacers as well as the spinners. It offers good bounce and the new ball may move for a while. However, the batters get to score more runs as they get to spent time. The pitch is known to get better during the evening and night.

Scenario: If Hobart Hurricanes fields first

The Hurricanes have a brilliant bowling line-up with the Punjab-born Nikhil Chaudhary finding his A-game with both bat and ball in hand with the progression of the tournament. Players like Chris Jordan and Nathan Ellis could be a good pick as they have the knack for picking wickets.

Scenario: If Adelaide Strikers field first

The Strikers have been bolstered by the good form of Matthew Short and Chris Lynn during this season. Both of them are the top two run-getters for the Strikers this season and has been toying the bowlers on their own will.

STR vs HUR, Match 31- Top Captain and vice-captain choices

Scenario: If Hobart Hurricanes field first

Chris Jordan (HUR): The English bowling all-rounder has been in fantastic form with the cork in hand. He claimed a three-fer against the Brisbane Heat in their recent game and can produce match-defining cameos with the bat as well. He has picked up five wickets from his last three games.

Chris Lynn (STR): 'Lynnsanity' took centre stage during the BBL 13 on most occasions when Chris Lynn took the crease with the willow in hand. The top-order batter has notched up four thirty-plus scores in his last four innings and has piled up 267 runs from six innings, thereby giving a strong reason to pick him for captain and vice-captain choice.

Scenario: If Adelaide Strikers field first

Matt Short (STR): The all-rounder continued his good form from the previous season and is the leading run-getter for his own side with 351 runs from six innings that includes five half-centuries. He is arriving on the back of three back-to-back fifties and can be more than handy with the finger spin as well. Short is in red-hot form and has been playing the captain's knock consistently.

Nathan Ellis (HUR): The Hurricanes skipper has bagged eight wickets from seven matches and is their leading wicket-taker in the ongoing season. Ellis is a good middle-over and slog over phase bowler and tends to fragment building partnerships. The wily fast bowler has good change-ups that easily deceives the opposition.

STR vs HUR, Match 31- Big Risk, Big Return Choices

Nikhil Chaudhary (HUR): The Punjab-bred lad in the BBL has gained huge attraction from the broadcasters and the audience due to his brilliant all-round abilities. He almost steered a win for the Hurricanes single-handedly against the Heat with a gritty fifty. Chaudhary has been bowling quite often as well and could be a handy pick.

David Payne (STR): The English fast bowler has had a good BBL outing thus far with eight scalps under his name from five innings. There's been only one occasion this edition when Payne did not pick a wicket. The conditions of Adelaide Oval does soothe him and the pacer could be a good asset.
