After a solid gap of 14 months, former India captain Virat Kohli makes a comeback into the T20I side for the upcoming three-match series in Afghanistan starting January 11.

Kohli, who last featured in the T20 World Cup 2022 for India, finished the competition as the leading run-getter (296) and has often been quizzed about his style in the 20-overs formats, which as opposed to the current demand is quite proper and old school.

The batting maestro despite not playing T20Is for India in 2023, starred with the bat for Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and shut all critics down with his performance.

The 35-year-old dished out 639 runs from 14 IPL matches, which include two hundred and six fifties, which exhibited the batters' ability to adjust to any format without making drastic changes.

After Kohli struck his seventh IPL hundred last season, the former RCB captain spoke about his T20 batting style, which has been criticised for lack of a higher strike rate.

This is how I play T20 cricket - Virat Kohli

"I felt great. Lot of people think that my T20 cricket is declining, I don't feel like that at all. I think I am playing my best T20 cricket again. I'm just enjoying myself. This is how I play T20 cricket, I look to hit gaps, hit a lot of boundaries and then the big ones towards the end if the situation allows me to,

You have to read situations and rise up to the occasion when the situation demands. I feel really good with my game at the moment and how I'm batting,"

In 115 T20Is for India, Kohli has amassed 4,008 runs at a strike rate of 137.96, which includes a solitary hundred and 37 fifties, making him the leading run-getter as well for the nation in 20-overs cricket.
