Day 1 of the third and final Test between India and New Zealand came to a jaw-dropping and rollercoaster-filled end. The home team lost three wickets in the short span of just two overs, and India, ruling the charts all through the day, came crashing down the mud.

Night-Watcher Siraj Left Before The Moon Set In

It was the wicket of left-hander Yashasvi Jaiswal that led to the collapse right towards the end. India first lost Jaiswal as he made a failed attempt to hit a reverse sweep, followed by the management deciding to send Mohammad Siraj to be the 'night-watchman' and support Shubman Gill from the other end.

However, Siraj got LBW on his first ball and was left confused. Despite this, Gill and Siraj opted for a review, and much to every Indian fan's liking, he was indeed out. India lost Siraj and a crucial one very early on in the innings.

India Lose Virat Kohli Early

Following this, India was forced to do what they did not plan: sending Virat Kohli out in the game's dying minutes. Kohli held tight for almost an hour and even slammed a cracking boundary. But a poor judgement cost both him and India deeply.

In the 18th over, Kohli called Gill and insisted on a quick single. However, Matt Henry turned out to be faster as his brilliant pick-up and throw resulted in the ball crashing straight into the stumps. Kohli dived but failed to make it in time, as the replays further showed. With this, India lost its 4th wicket and closed the day at 86/4.

Meanwhile , fans all over X (formerly known as Twitter) began criticising Virat Kohli and his hasty decision, making posts and sharing memes. While some even suggested that Kohli and Rohit should retire if they don't concentrate on their batting.
