Well, the IPL retention list is out and the ten teams have finalised their retained players ahead of the mega auction set to take place soon. Some surprising names were kept and some baffling decisions were also made by the franchises.

One such amusing decision was taken by Rajasthan Royals, who kept their core team ahead of the auction but decided to release star opener, Jos Buttler. They have also released Yuzvendra Chahal from the side, but Buttler's exclusion is a strange one, considering he is their best T20 batter.

However, with Buttler now in the auction pool, several teams will try and get his services since the Englishman is one of the best in the business. We look at 3 teams where Buttler can head ahead of the next season.

3) Royal Challengers Bengaluru

RCB need a keeper and they also need a captain. Buttler can play the dual role perfectly and can also be the new opening partner for franchise legend, Virat Kohli. There are rumours that Kohli will lead the RCB side next season, but only if the team don't find a suitable captaincy option.

Buttler will enjoy batting at M Chinnaswamy stadium and RCB will be getting an explosive batter at the top to work with Kohli. In all respective, the red army has 84 crore purse and should go after the English batter.

2) Punjab Kings

The Punjab franchise have a knack of picking up England players - be it Sam Curran, Liam Livingstone or Jonny Bairstow. With Shikhar Dhawan no longer in the side, Punjab can draft in Buttler to open with Prabhsimran Singh.

Also, he can be the captaincy candidate as Punjab don't have a captaincy option in the players they have retained. Generally Punjab believe in constructing a young squad, but Buttler's inclusion will inject some much-needed experience in the side.

1) Lucknow Super Giants

Another team which has retained its core side. LSG have a strong foundation ahead of the next season, but lack the firepower at the top. All their retentions have either been middle-order batters or brilliant bowlers.

Now, with KL Rahul also leaving the side, LSG certainly need an explosive batter at the top and there is no better option than Buttler, who can maximise the conditions and play attacking game. Plus, he can be their captaincy choice, if Pooran somehow decides not to take up the captaincy mantle.
