Even though cricket is a game of debate in many cases, everyone can agree to the fact that a run-out in a Test match is the worst possible way to return to the pavilion. Virat Kohli, who has been having a tough time on the field for a while, had to suffer the same thing on Friday, that too in front of one of his favourite crowds at Wankhede Stadium.

The incident happened during the 19th over of India's innings when Rachin Ravindra came into the attack. Just after playing him towards mid-on, Kohli wanted to take a quick single and called for it. Even though he is probably the fittest cricketer on the planet, the run was never on.

Matt Henry saw the opportunity, and Kohli tried as hard as much to avoid an error after the suicidal move. However, the Indian stalwart failed, as Henry's direct hit at non-strikers' end made sure he was a couple of yards short of the crease after a desperate dive.

IND vs NZ, 3rd Test Day 1 Highlights: India Lose Ploy In The End

Despite controlling the majority of the day, India failed miserably in the end, having lost three wickets in no time. Yashasvi Jaiswal, Mohammed Siraj, and Virat Kohli were the victims, as India lost Rohit Sharma early.

Earlier in the game, Ravindra Jadeja shone with the ball, having picked up five wickets. Washington Sundar impressed as well with four dismissals, as New Zealand were bundled out for 235. Daryl Mitchell top-scored with a valiant 82, while Will Young made 71 before becoming Jadeja's first wicket of the day.
