AB de Villiers has named his five personal favorite ODI batters of all time. A legend in his own right, the former South African skipper plundered close to 10,000 runs in ODIs in just 218 innings at an astonishing batting average of 53.50.
AB de Villiers named former RCB teammate and long-time friend Virat Kohli as one of his favorites, alongside former Indian captain MS Dhoni. The 41-year-old also named a former national teammate, a champion Australian, and a perennial batting legend from India in his top five list.
AB de Villiers names five favorite ODI batters
AB de Villiers recently named his five favorite ODI batters of all time. Apart from naming former RCB teammate Virat Kohli and ex-rival MS Dhoni, the legendary South African cricketer named Sachin Tendulkar as the third Indian player in his top five list.
Villiers also chose former South African teammate and legendary all-rounder Jacques Kallis, alongside ex-Australian captain and three-time ODI World Cup winning player, Ricky Ponting.
Notably, this is not the first time AB de Villiers has expressed his admiration for MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli. Back in late-2023, Villiers described Dhoni as the “best finisher” of the game. Moreover, the former South African captain often congratulates Kohli whenever the latter achieves a major milestone, as the two cricketers spent nearly 10 seasons as RCB teammates in IPL.
