Chahal Wishes Former Teammate De Villiers On Birthday

One of the legends of the Indian Premier League (IPL), Abraham Benjamin de Villiers, turns 41 today, on February 17th. Born in 1984 in Pretoria, the South African superstar became one of the most celebrated players ever. Even after his retirement, the right-hander is still the most respected and loved cricketer, as he was titled "Mr. 360" for his extraordinary shots all over the ground.

Now, on his birthday, wishes have poured in from various quarters, especially from his former RCB teammate Yuzvendra Chahal. Both de Villiers and Chahal were a prominent part of the Royal Challengers Bengaluru side till the year 2021 when de Villiers retired, and Chahal was bought by Rajasthan Royals in the mega auction.

Despite all that, four years after their last game together, Chahal wished his former teammate with a special message on his Instagram story, writing,

"Happy birthday AB de Villiers sir. Lots of love."

Along with that, he posted an old photo of them sitting in a restaurant together while in an arm wrestling pose.

This pic has garnered the attention of many fans on social media, who have loved the gestures shown by the Indian leg spinner to the legendary player.

AB de Villiers' High Profile IPL Career

Talking about their time together. Both de Villiers and Yuzvendra Chahal played a crucial part during RCB's 2016 IPL campaign, where the Bangalore-based side ended up as runners-up in the tournament, losing to SunRisers Hyderabad. However, both of them, alongside Virat Kohli, were influential with their performances on the field.

Specifically talking about de Villiers, he joined the Bangalore side in the year 2011 and played over 11 seasons to score close to 5,000 runs until 2021, when he retired from all forms of cricket with immediate effect. However, recently, AB announced that he will be featuring one more time for the South African team in the season 2 of World Championship of Legends (WCL) as the captain.

Meanwhile, Chahal will be plying his trade for Punjab Kings in the IPL 2025 after recently getting bought by the Ricky Ponting coached side.
