In a heartwarming turn of events, several prominent Indian cricketers, including Shubman Gill, Jasprit Bumrah and head coach Gautam Gambhir, have extended their best wishes to Jay Shah, the former Secretary of the BCCI, on his new role as ICC chairman.

Jay Shah, son of India's Home Minister Amit Shah, took over as BCCI secretary in 2019 and served two successful terms where Indian cricket scaled new heights, especially the women's cricket.

Meanwhile, Jay Shah is set to go global, as he was elected as ICC chairman unopposed. Shah was the sole nominee and succeeded Greg Barclay in taking over as the ICC boss.

While the official handover is yet to take place, Indian cricketers have flooded X (formerly twitter) with congratulatory messages. Indian senior team head coach Gautam Gambhir wished Shah luck in the new role and expects world cricket to grow under his reign, as does Virat Kohli.

Notably, Jay Shah is only the fifth Indian to take charge as ICC chairman and is the youngest one to ever hold the top office.

As far as the BCCI secretary post is concerned, lawyer and DDCA president Rohan Jaitley is likely to succeed Jay Shah in the coming weeks.
