From Gujarat Cricket to ICC Chairman: Journey of Jay Shah

He started his journey as an administrator with Gujarat Cricket Association in 2009, following which, he became its Secretary in 2013. Eventually in 2019, he was appointed as the BCCI Secretary, a post which he fulfilled with great dignity.

A landmark moment came in early 2023, when he launched the Women's Premier League, which became an instant hit.

"I am humbled by the nomination as the Chair of the International Cricket Council," Shah stated. "I am committed to working closely with the ICC team and our member nations to further globalize cricket.

We stand at a critical juncture where it is increasingly important to balance the coexistence of multiple formats, promote the adoption of advanced technologies, and introduce our marquee events to new global markets. Our goal is to make cricket more inclusive and popular than ever before."

Apart from prioritising Test cricket, Shah's tasks would be to provide equal share of ICC's money to other boards, and also make sure their are more Test matches for the Women's team.
