The 18th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) has been a thrilling showcase of power-hitting and tactical bowling. While some teams have dominated the scoreboard with towering sixes, others have faced relentless pressure, accumulating a high number of dot balls. 

While the tournament is on the verge of resumption after the India-Pakistan tension de-escalated, here’s a detailed look at the top teams with the most sixes hit and those who have faced the most dot balls in IPL 2025 so far.

Teams with Most Sixes

1) Rajasthan Royals (123 Sixes)

RR lead the six-hitting charts with a staggering 123 sixes. Their aggressive batting lineup, featuring power hitters like Jos Buttler and Riyan Parag, has consistently cleared boundaries. Though out of the tournament, talents like Vaibhav Suryavanshi showed intent with the bat.

2) Punjab Kings (114 Sixes) 

Punjab follow closely with 114 sixes. Their opening duo Prabhsimran Singh and Priyansh Arya have been instrumental, combining with middle-order batters like Shreyas Iyer and Nehal Wadhera to maintain a high-scoring tempo. PBKS’s ability to hit sixes has been a key factor in their strong position on the points table.

3) Lucknow Super Giants (111 Sixes) 

LSG stand third with 111 sixes. Nicholas Pooran tops the six-hitting charts individually with 34 sixes in 11 innings, showcasing his explosive batting. Notably, LSG has embraced an attacking style that keeps the scoreboard ticking.

4) Mumbai Indians (100 Sixes)

Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav have been at the helm of Mumbai Indians' six-hitting records for this season with 26 and 17 sixes to their names respectively. With playoffs in sight, they aim to crack more maximums in their upcoming fixtures.

5) Royal Challengers Bengaluru (96 Sixes) 

Virat Kohli leads the six-hitting charts for RCB with 18 sixes to his name this season followed by Devdutt Padikkal. With Tim David and Phil Slat firing too, RCB comes fifth in this chart with the most sixes by a team.

Teams with Most Dot Balls Faced

1) Chennai Super Kings (478 Dot Balls) 

CSK have faced the highest number of dot balls this season, totalling 478. Their batting struggles, particularly in the powerplay, have resulted in numerous dot deliveries, reflecting the disciplined bowling attacks they have faced. 

2) Rajasthan Royals (475 Dot Balls) 

Despite their six-hitting prowess, Rajasthan Royals have also faced 475 dot balls. This indicates phases of pressure where their batting lineup has struggled to maintain momentum, especially after losing key wickets. While they rank first in the six-hitting list, their dot ball ranking exposes their reliability on particular players.

3) Mumbai Indians (451 Dot Balls) 

MI came third with 451 dot balls faced. Known for their slow starts, MI have often found themselves restricted by disciplined bowling units, especially in the middle overs. Their dot ball count reflects the challenges they have faced in accelerating the innings consistently.

4) Lucknow Super Giants (446 Dot Balls)

LSG, currently 7th on the points table and with minimal hopes for the playoffs also struggled to maintain momentum after quick collapses of the top-order. Hence, 446 dot balls justify their struggle this season.

5) Kolkata Knight Riders (444 Dot Balls)

While KKR have an explosive opening duo at the top, their middle order has been exposed multiple times in the tournament. With 444 dot balls to their name, they now rank last in the dot balls list. Notably, Kolkata only boasts two 200+ scores this season showcasing their lack of intent. In contrast, they boasted five 200+ totals in 2024.
