In the past few days, India's Test set-up has undergone a major overhaul as veterans Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli bid adieu to the game. Notably, Rohit was the first to announce his Test retirement and the RCB star followed his footsteps and also took to social media platforms to announce his retirement ahead of the England series.

Both Virat and Rohit fans have always argued over the better batter in the red-ball format and even several cricket pundits too have voiced their opinion on the matter. In the latest events, former South Africa opener Herschelle Gibbs has opined his view and remarked that Rohit is a more technically sound batter than Virat Kohli.

“You ever see Rohit defend balls on 4th or 5th stump? How many times did Virat get out doing just that? Rohit definitely technically better than Virat. Rohit was always more technically correct than Virat. But Virat’s desire to dominate, especially in white ball format, is a major difference between the two batters," Gibbs said in his interaction with a fan on Twitter.

Talking about the two players, then Virat is ahead of Rohit in terms of runs as played 67 Tests for India before retiring, Virat Kohli ended his whites career after playing 123 Tests. While Sharma managed 4301 runs in his Test career, Virat Kohli ended his innings in the longest format of the sport with 9230 runs against his name.

Further, it is worth noting that Kohli fans are not happy with Gibbs statement as Virat had referred to him as his cricketing idol during his 2008 U19 World Cup title campaign.
