On Thursday, Royal Challengers Bangalore will kickstart their IPL 2024 campaign with a blockbuster tournament opener against Chennai Super Kings. Meanwhile, ahead of the much-awaited season starts, legendary South African batter AB De Villiers has revealed the players he will watch out for in the mega event. 

Taking to his YouTube channel, De Villiers showered massive praise on swashbuckling Indian opener Yashasvi Jaiswal. He lauded the southpaw for his recent exploits in the England Tests, expecting him to perform admirably in the competition. 

"There is one guy that I absolutely cannot wait to watch. That is Jaiswal. He showed in the Test format what he is capable of. Now it is time for him in T20 cricket to really show his talent. With the amount of confidence he took from that Test series (against England), to take that into this IPL, I am expecting fireworks from this guy. I am expecting at least a 500-plus season, maybe even 600-plus," said De Villiers.

De Villiers, who represented RCB in his playing days, also named destructive South African batter Tristan Stubbs as one of the players to watch out for, highlighting his stunning performance for Sunrisers Eastern Cape in the second season of SA20. 

"He had a very good SA20 tournament. The year before that, he was a bit out of form, but this year, he has put up his hand and showed signs of what he's capable of. He is a very talented young player, hits the ball very, very hard, he offers a lot with the ball in hand as well, he can bowl you off-spin, and he is absolutely incredible in the field. So, keep an eye out for him," he added. 

Jaiswal will represent Rajasthan Royals, for whom he top-scored with 625 runs in the IPL last season. 

Meanwhile, Stubbs could get regular opportunities in this IPL season, unlike the previous ones, as Delhi Capitals will be without Harry Brook, who was initially supposed to start in the playing XI.
