In a significant development, Lucknow Super Giants' head coach Justin Langer has revealed that ace English speedster David Willey won't turn up for the franchise in their initial few games in the IPL 2024.

As reported by ESPN Cricinfo, Willey has informed the LSG management that he won't be travelling to India anytime soon due to personal reasons.

Notably, the English bowling all-rounder has been mostly away from home owing to various national and franchise league commitments of late.

While speaking to the reporters, Langer explained how the absence of Mark Wood and Willey will result in LSG's inexperienced line-up in the tournament.

"With Mark Wood pulling out of the tournament and also David Willey won't be coming now either, that means we lack some experience," Langer said.

However, Langer also highlighted the presence of several promising pacers, who can fill the big shoes of the English duo.

"But what I've also seen in the last couple of days is that we have enormous talent. Some of our guys have had some injuries but they all look very fit at the moment. They look fit and healthy and they're very hungry, so we'll just have to manage them well so that we can get them through and work through the whole tournament, not just the start of the tournament,” he added.

After RCB released him to the auction pool, Willey was purchased by LSG during the IPL mini auction conducted last year. He recently had a successful stint with Multan Sultans in the PSL 2024, powering them to the final where they lost to the eventual champions Islamabad United
